Reviewing the Palapa Ring East NOC in Patti Village, MBD Regional Secretary Hopes Community Will Safeguard State Assets

A site inspection of the Palapa Ring Timur Network Operation Center (NOC) by the Regional Secretary of Southwest Maluku, Drs. Alfonsius Siamiloy, M.Si., located in Patti Village, was conducted. He was accompanied by the Assistant for Government and Public Welfare, the Head of the Communication and Information Agency, the Head of the Assets and Finance Agency, the Head of the Education and Culture Agency, the Head of the Environmental Agency, the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), the Head of the Research and Development Agency (Balitbang), the Head of the Protocol and Leadership Communications Division, staff from the MBD Regency Communication and Information Agency, and representatives from PT. Palapa Timur Telematika, represented by Mr. Wanri, along with the Village Head and staff from Patti Village.
In an effort to promote equitable telecommunications access in the 3T (Underdeveloped, Frontier, and Outermost) regions, the government has built telecommunications infrastructure, the Palapa Ring Project, which is divided into three packages: Palapa Ring West, Palapa Ring Central, and Palapa Ring East. This infrastructure project involves the construction of a fiber-optic network and NOCs throughout Indonesia, reaching 514 regencies/cities.
The Palapa Ring submarine telecommunications network development program for the eastern region of Southwest Maluku Regency has two locations: Wetar Island and Moa Island, managed by PT. Palapa Timur Telematika. This NOC serves as the system operations center for the submarine cable network for the Eastern Ring Region.
The Head of the Communications and Informatics Office, Weruhair A.A. Petrusz, SE, stated that with the NOC built by PT. Palapa Timur Telematika, a network from the NOC to the Regional Government point within the MBD Regency Communications and Informatics Office will soon be established.
Furthermore, on the same occasion, Drs. Alfonsius Siamiloy, M.Si., in his directive, stated that all equipment and infrastructure in Patti Village must be maintained and preserved to prevent damage by the community. This is a state asset that must be safeguarded for the public interest. Therefore, the MBD Regional Secretary hopes that the Village Head and the entire Patti Village community will cooperate in building the landline network so that it can run smoothly for the benefit of all the people of Southwest Maluku.
"We are grateful to the Central Government because, with the East Palapa Ring Project, we are facilitated in accessing information and telecommunications through the internet network. This will support the government's duties and responsibilities towards an electronic-based government system and support public access to information."
